What sounded like a chant to head coach Gary Patterson rose from the stands as Air Force tended to an injured player while another student appeared on the jumbotron wielding a poster in support of the coach.
Patterson’s name has come up in conversations about head coaching vacancies at multiple major programs. A Kansas State University fan Web site went as far as to say Patterson had signed a deal on Nov. 7. Patterson graduated from Kansas State in 1983.

The purple and white faithful will be BYU fans this weekend when the Cougars take on the Utah Utes.
With a TCU win and a Utah loss, the Horned Frogs would get a share of the Mountain West Conference title. TCU, BYU and Utah would all be 7-1 in conference play.
Jeremy Kerley is listed at the top of the depth chart at the y wide receiver position but has yet to play likely due to injury.
Freshman Antoine Hicks has had a pair of catches replacing Kerley, including a one-handed snag on a pass thrown behind him. The freshman then broke a tackle to make something out of nothing on the play.
Cornerback Nick Sanders has taken over on punt return duty.
The Air Force Academy comes into the game averaging 279.7 rushing yards per game with their triple option attack, while the Frogs defense leads the nation in rushing yards allowed at 39.5 yards per game.
On the Falcons’ first possession, the Frogs have had little trouble stuffing the handoffs up the middle and have been able to showcase their speed by chasing down the option outside as well. The Falcons longest gain came on a seven-yard run off the option pitch that went for a first down.
The Frogs forced a three-and-out on the Falcons’ second.
The Frogs didn’t waste anytime getting back into a groove on offense after a 16-day layoff.

The view I have from the press box is one I’d like to frame and hang in my living room. To my right is the west side of campus, complete with a brand new crane. To the left I can see downtown. Continuing left, a parking lot, which I find particularly bothersome.
Why are there so many people still in the parking lot tailgating? Maybe they’re unaware that their team knocked off the then-No. 9 team in the nation last week. Maybe they’re unaware that if the Frogs win out, they bring a conference title to campus. Maybe they’re unaware that representatives from a BCS bowl are in the press box watching the game, also enjoying the view of TCU fans in the parking lot. Bet they’re loving that.

The swarming Horned Frog defense wasn’t able to get to Wyoming quarterback Karsten Sween in the first half.
The Frogs entered tonight’s homecoming showdown leading the nation with 33 sacks while Wyoming ranks 81 out of 119 teams in sacks allowed. Defensive end Jerry Hughes also leads the nation with 11. The junior end was named to The Sporting News’ Midseason All-America Team.
Sween has been illusive throughout the first half and has gotten the ball down field while on the move, including a 40-yard third down completion to wide receiver Brandon Stewart while rolling to his left.
Quarterback Andy Dalton kept drives rolling with his arm on the teams’ first five third down attempts.
His first went for 60 yards and a touchdown to wide receiver Jimmy Young. The duo hooked up again in the second quarter for another score.
On the second third down attempt, pass interfernce penalty extended the drive when Dalton looked for Young on a post route. The drive later stalled when running back Aaron Brown was stuffed on a draw play. It was the first run attempt by the Frogs on a third down.
