The Texas Bowl in Houston was another feather in the cap for Gary Patterson as he coached his team to a third consecutive bowl win. Granted naysayers will attribute redshirt freshman Andy Dalton’s 70 percent completion rate to a less than stellar U of H secondary, but in total honesty, the rookie is showing he is ready to take the snaps for the rest of his career in purple and white.As bowl games go, the contest was better than last night’s BCS National Championship.
Ohio State University came out firing on all cylinders during the opening drives. But, their progress eventually was more like watching bottle rockets launching on New Years Day. Meanwhile, the Bayou Boys flat out hit the Buckeyes in the mouth… figuratively. The OSU personal fouls proved they could hit people in the mouth literally.
The SEC remains dominant, OSU can’t win a national title against SEC teams. My thoughts on the game are simple. The Buckeyes should bring back Greg Oden (it doesn’t matter that he’s in the NBA and injured and that he doesn’t play football), and let him play football. I’m sure a 7-footer as a wideout would help in some form or another. At least it would be a funny method of getting attention. Think about it. Greg Oden’s 12 feet 2 inch jump and touch flying skyward in the endzone.
By my calculations Oden will be 11 feet 9 inches tall and weigh 678 pounds by the time he is 22-years-old. Just wait.
